San Mateo's Baywood neighborhood is consistently one of the most desirable communities on the Peninsula. Historically, demand exceeds supply. Larger homes of architectural significance can be difficult to come by. Recently two such homes, 366 Virginia (pictured) and 517 Parrott, sold quickly and aggressively within a week of listing. Virginia had been maintained by just its third owner for the last 50 years, and was listed at $1,725,000. This 3400 sq. ft. home did not have much cosmetic updating, but a classic facade, grand rooms, and a prime block. 517 Parrott listed at $1,799,000 quickly attracted multiple offers. This home had some unique updates including a kitchen/family great room opening to the yard. (not always easy to find in the Baywood real estate home selection of San Mateo!) Parrott last sold in 2003 for $1,625,000 when it was overbid from its $1,595,000 list price.
Today 345 Parrott has come on the market just down the street for $1,895,000. At 4,230 sq. ft. per MLS, with grand elegant rooms, this home should attract a very busy open house weekend. It is open Sat. and Sun. 4/17, 4/18 1:00-4:00 both days.
